You may have the right to appeal against an adverse decision made against you which affects your academic record or enrolment status. This could include individual grades, if you believe they are unfair or unreasonable. To appeal you need to satisfy the appeal grounds criteria. The Student Advisory Service is here to help you to understand University processes and prepare letters or appeals.

The Student Advisory Service is paid for by your Student Services and Amenities Fee and can help you with questions about:

  • your academic progress
  • appeals and the appeals process
  • student discipline matters
  • student complaints/grievances
  • bullying or harassment

There can be strict deadlines around submitting appeals, for example appeals against a final grade must be submitted no later than 10 working days after results publication. If you feel that you should appeal, please contact the Student Advisory Service promptly so that they can support you. You can call (03) 5327 6105 or email studentadviser@federation.edu.au
