If you have had problems outside your control that have impacted you preparing and submitting assessment tasks on time, you should contact your course coordinators to let them know what is happening. Some assessment submission links in Moodle will lock you out after the due date; your coordinator may need to amend the settings for you. Check the conditions shown in your course description which will indicate if there will be a marks penalty applied for work submitted late without appropriate permissions.

If you only need a short extension in one course, you can complete and submit a Discretionary Assessment Extension form (pdf, 548 kb) to the Course Coordinator or Lecturer no later than 2 working days prior to the due date. You may need to attach supporting documentation such as a Health Care Professional Certification or medical certificate, assessment drafts or evidence of progress to support the application, extension is NOT guaranteed. You will be advised of the outcome by email to your student email account when the application is processed.

If you need an extension of longer that 5 working days, for more than one course, or the task is due within two working days, please submit the VET or HE Special Consideration - General application form (pdf, 983kb) with supporting documentation as detailed on the form.

Circumstances such as holidays, family occasions, work requirements, or minor illnesses will not be accepted as valid grounds for application. If you are not attending classes or don't submit your work, you might be putting yourself at risk of failing. If you are in this situation you need to speak to staff in Student HQ to work out a plan.
