You may notice small yellow stickers around the University warning of the presence of asbestos containing materials (ACM). These stickers are part of the University’s asbestos management program and are an additional warning to contractors that these materials must not be disturbed without the appropriate safety precautions.
Asbestos fibres pose no risk while they are bound within materials like asbestos cement sheet or vinyl flooring but are hazardous if they become air-borne e.g. by drilling or grinding. The University has strict management procedures in place to ensure the safety of contractors and the university community. Please contact Risk, Health and Safety if you have any concerns.
