The Unique Student Identifier or USI is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters that is attached to a secure online record of your recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia, even from different training organisations. All TAFE students need to apply for one and provide this at the time of enrolment into courses.

It only takes a few minutes to create online and you will get an email from the Victorian Government confirming your number
(as a tip, we have found the Medicare Card is the easiest ID to use on this website, and make sure if you have a middle name to enter this as well). If you don’t already have your USI number this can be created easily through the profile section of your account. For more information regarding the USI please visit www.usi.gov.au.

All new and continuing TAFE students need to provide Federation University with their USI before their statement of attainment or qualification can be issued.
